What we do
Grants for Schools
At the Sparkle Bean Trust, we recognise that a little bit of money can go a long way when put in the hands of leaders who understand the complexities of their school communities. The sudden death of a pupil is incredibly difficult on a school, especially the children who may be deeply affected and experience trauma in the months or even years following an incident.
Our main purpose is to identify those schools in need through our grant-making process and provide a small grant to support them to lead their own recovery. Qualifying schools can apply to our trustees for a grant of up to £1000 by completing our Funding Request Form for the following support and outcomes:
- Counselling or therapy for children to support the recovery of bereaved children
- Counselling or therapy for staff to support the recovery of bereaved staff and to enable them to support children in their care
- Training for staff on trauma to support the recovery of bereaved staff and to enable them to support children in their care and aid their recovery
- An identified activity for the children to support their recovery
- Support for a memorial or celebration for the first anniversary to enable the school community to successfully pass through this traumatic period and support the mental health of its school community

Funding Request Sparkle Bean Grant Making PolicyAdvice for School Leaders
As a school leader, you are never prepared for the death of a pupil. There are many different circumstances but one thing remains, the loss and grief of your school community. Members of our team have that lived experience and are on hand to share those experiences and provide practical advice on what to expect and potential solutions to problems.
We are also able to help support your staff’s well-being in terms of setting up supervision.
Please contact us via the Contact Form and we will be happy to help.
